Free practice at the studio

  • To access the Open Space, you must have a solid base in high-temperature clay modeling and real autonomy, acquired at least after 40 hours of ceramics courses. This course has enabled you to consolidate your skills, master fundamental techniques and discover the collective life of a studio.

→ Please send us one or more certificates showing the hours you have spent at Atelier Tou and/or other ceramic workshops.

  • This format is designed for experienced practitioners who are familiar with working with high-temperature clays and are able to work independently. Unlike the Weekly Courses, no direct instruction will be provided during your Free Practice sessions; however, Anna will be available during certain time slots to offer support and guidance.

  • — Intermediate to advanced level
    — Adults and teens 15 years and+
    — Personal and nominative card

    • The studio charter will be sent to you after purchasing your Open Space card. This must be returned signed by email before your first session.

    • Your sessions must be booked on the calendar at least 4 days in advance. As a member, you will have access to a shared calendar where the slots and places available for the coming months will be indicated.

  • — Cancellation of a time slot is possible up to 48 hours before the session. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the session, your session will be forfeited (unless you provide valid proof).

    — It is not possible to cancel your card purchase in whole or in part.

    — In the event of an exceptional closure of the workshop for reasons beyond our control, your session will be postponed to another date of your choosing.

Functioning and organization

Functioning and organization

Equipment

Participants agree to respect the workshop infrastructure and equipment, while leaving their workspace clean upon departure.

To come to the workshop, participants are asked to bring their own equipment, including a tool kit, sponges, microfiber cloths, and an apron. A storage box will be provided to allow you to safely leave your materials at the workshop.

The price includes use of the equipment and large tools, as well as access to the kitchen (fridge and microwave) and the refreshment area (tea, coffee, water).

Raw materials

Clays are not included in the Open Practice cards. You can purchase them from the workshop in 5kg or 10kg blocks. Prices per kg directly include the cost of the workshop's glazes, which you will therefore have free access to. If you wish to bring your own glazes, this must be approved by Anna, the manager.

To ensure consistent firing and the pieces' durability, only clays purchased from the workshop may be used.

Firings and glazing

The cost of firing your pieces is included up to 16 cm wide and 16 cm high. For larger pieces, the price will depend on the size of your pieces and will be calculated by the workshop manager.

The ceramic studio does not accept firing of pieces made outside of the studio.

Glazing of your pieces is an integral part of your Free Practice sessions, during workshop time slots. Glazing sessions will be organized by the ceramist in a group setting so that everyone can participate. Remember to reserve one or more sessions on your card for the glazing of your pieces.
