Trained in design and graphic arts in Paris, Anna Tou directs her work towards sculpture and objects. She explores the various aspects of clay as a material, both from a technical and aesthetic perspective, blending them into utilitarian design as well as collectible design, all while maintaining a strong connection to artisanal craftsmanship. She enjoys challenging the traditional separation between art and craft.

Through this vision, Anna Tou questions our relationship with everyday objects, inviting them to be seen in a new light—both admired for their aesthetics and appreciated for their function. In this regard, her work gains a figurative dimension, reflecting an evolution in her artistic discourse.

At the intersection of art and design, Anna Tou’s work merges various ancestral techniques with contemporary textures and reliefs. Her higher education in typography and applied arts in Paris rekindled her focus on line work, highlighting the seams and structures of her pieces. She "tattoos" the leather of her clay, questioning the artisanal form as if it were a human body.

Stories of textures and living matter, stories of movement and falls, stories of mysterious interiors and undefined organs. A creative process centered on experimentation and the enhancement of imperfections. Allowing forms to emerge through modeling, the constraints of clay, and firing. Her practice generates its own shapes, which in turn create reproducible imaginaries.

A seeker and collector of unusual tools, Anna Tou draws inspiration from archaic objects to create her contemporary collections, reflecting organic, living forms, shaped by hand in a soft and slow manner. She enjoys exploring materiality and the unexpected—everything that makes an object unique and precious. Each piece displays differences in texture, relief, and dimension. As a result, no two pieces are alike.
